Why does Windows give me a security warning when installing Weight-By-Date?
No matter what software you download, Windows XP typically gives you two security warnings for downloaded software: (1) when you download a file and (2) when you install it. This is to protect you from someone installing software without your knowledge (i.e. viruses, spyware, etc.) and to make you aware of what you are installing.
Weight-By-Date is completely safe to install and we digitally sign our downloads for added protection.
This first message appears when you start a download:
The information at the bottom of this message is telling you that an application is about to be installed to your PC, in this case Weight-By-Date. Since any application can be potentially harmful, it is making you aware of this as well.
This second message may appear when you try to open or run the downloaded file:
You'll see that this message identifies the name of our program and company for authenticity. This means that our software has been "digitally signed", identifying us as the publisher, and it has not been tampered with. Essentially, this message is telling you exactly what you are installing, so you are better informed.

Absolutely. Weight-By-Date Pro contains an import feature and it will import all of your existing trial data automatically when you run it for the first time.

I previously purchased Weight-By-Date and need to reinstall it. How can I download it again?
If you have deleted or lost the installation file for some reason, you can simply refer to your "Order Confirmation" e-mail and follow the instructions to download the file again. If you also purchased our Extended Download Service option, then you have access to your download for two years from the date of purchase.
If you have lost or cannot find your "Order Confirmation" e-mail, you can use the link below. Your last name and e-mail address are used to determine whether you have access to the download.

How can I transfer Weight-By-Date Pro plus my data to a new computer?
 To get your program and data transferred to your new computer, the first thing you should do is open Weight-By-Date Pro on your old computer and use the "Backup Data" feature from the File menu. Using this feature, you can back up your data to some type of removable media, such as a USB flash drive.
Next, from your new computer, install Weight-By-Date Pro from the CD-ROM or by downloading it from our site.
Finally, once Weight-By-Date Pro is installed on your new computer, choose "Restore Data" from the File menu to restore your data.

How does the IMMEDIATE Download order option work?
One option when placing an order is "IMMEDIATE Download." Many customers like this option if they don't require a CD-ROM, because it is less expensive. Right after your order is complete, you'll be able to download Weight-By-Date and get started right away. You'll also receive an Order Confirmation e-mail, which contains download instructions if you would rather download the program later.
When downloading the full version, your web browser may ask whether you want to save the file or open it from its current location. We always recommend that you save the file to a folder on your PC or your desktop. This way you can reinstall the software at a later date.
To install the program, just double-click on the file that you downloaded. You can (and should) keep or move this file to another folder on your computer's hard drive in case you need to reinstall the program later.

What is Extended Download Service?
If you order the "Immediate Download" version of Weight-By-Date (as opposed to the CD-ROM), you have the option of adding our Extended Download Service to your order. If you choose to do this, then we'll keep a backup copy of your download for a period of two (2) years, so you can come back and download the software again if needed.
This gives you the ability to:
- Download and reinstall Weight-By-Date after a computer crash or hard drive failure.
- Easily move Weight-By-Date to a new PC.
- Reinstall if you need to replace any missing system files (can happen when you remove other programs).
In a nutshell, this option gives you piece of mind and easy access to your download for two years after your purchase.

When downloading, should I "Save" or "Open" the file?
When downloading the software, your web browser may ask whether you want to save the file or open it from its current location. We always recommend that you save the file to a folder on your computer's hard drive. This way you can reinstall the software at a later date without having to download it again.
When you click the Save option, the following dialog appears:
Select a folder (such as the desktop) and click the "Save" button (there is no need to change the filename). After the download is complete, you can install the software by double-clicking on the file.

I just downloaded the software, but I forgot where I saved it. How can I find it again?
This is a common problem and the solution is very easy. Normally your web browser defaults to the same folder for every download, until you change it. An easy way to find out the download folder is to simply start another download. When asked, choose to save the file to your hard drive and the "Save As" window will appear, revealing the folder where your downloads are kept.

How long should my download take?
If you have broadband internet access, such as DSL, ISDN, Cable, etc., then you are probably not too concerned about download time, as it will be extremely fast. This question is really more for those that use a standard phone line and modem to connect to the internet.
Download time can be affected by some factors that are out of your control, like heavy internet traffic, noise in your phone line, or the connection to your internet service provider. Of course, the speed of your modem also plays a big role in the time it takes to download a file.
In general it takes about 3 minutes to download a 1 MB (or 1,024 KB) file with a 56K Modem. Weight-By-Date Pro is about 9 MB in size and will take about 30 minutes to download if you have a 56K modem.

Why do I keep getting disconnected during the download?
If you have dial-up internet access, unfortunately, there could be many reasons for this - too many to list here. Weather could be a factor, because moisture can introduce noise in underground phone lines. Your internet service provider could be experiencing technical problems due to heavy traffic. Also, since the internet is based on a vast network of phone and data lines, you could be linking to several servers en route to this web site - any one of which could be experiencing a problem.
